Former House Aide Is New Charitable Gaming Commissioner

Ky. Public Protection Cabinet

Scott T. Jones is the new Department of Charitable Gaming commissioner.  Jones replaces former commissioner Bob Sparrow, who retired last year. Jones was most recently the chief of staff for House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark, the Louisville state representative who stepped down from his leadership post in January after 12 years.

The department regulates the hundreds of charities across the state that use gambling as their primary source of revenue. Jones, a lawyer, is not new to the department. The University of Louisville graduate was the department's former chief attorney before going to work with Clark.

Jones will earn $93,580 annually. Public Protection Cabinet Secretary Amborse Wilson IV made the announcement Tuesday. He said Jones' prior experience with the department will be a valuable asset.
