State officials say a flier about Ebola that was distributed around a neighborhood in Frankfort is bogus.
Beth Fisher, a spokeswoman for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Human Services, told The State Journal that the flier has a logo from the Centers for Disease Control on it, but it is not from the agency. Fisher said the flier contains inaccurate information on how the disease is spread and how the government is responding to it.
Franklin County Health Department Director Judy Mattingly said people can get accurate information about the disease from the CDCs website, CDC.gov. Mattingly said she hoped the fliers were just a "bad prank."
Ebola has killed more than 4,500 people in West Africa. Three people have been diagnosed in the U.S. with the disease.
