Free Hazardous Waste Disposal Event Happening Soon

If you’ve got old hazardous materials hanging around your garage, city leaders are hoping you’ll take advantage of an event called the “Fall Haul.”

The free event coordinated by Lexington’s Division of Waste Management is intended to serve as one-stop disposal point for a long list of hazardous materials.

"This is the waste that we don't normally collect and the waste that you cannot put in your Rosie, Herbie, or Lenny," says David Holmes, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works. "This event gives our citizens another opportunity to dispose of unwanted items, including household cleaners, solvents, and even mercury."

The Fall Haul takes place at the former landfill site on Old Frankfort Pike Saturday October 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A complete list of acceptable items is available at lexingtonky.gov/fallhaul.
