Lexington’s newly expanded Jacobson Dog Park dog has officially reopened its gates.
It was a modest ribbon-cutting ceremony thanks to inclement weather, but soon there will be plenty of barking and tail wagging in the Jacobson Dog Park, which has doubled in size to nearly eight acres.
Vice Mayor Linda Gorton welcomed the addition of new gates and wood fencing, with a second water hydrant soon to come.
"Many of us remember when this was the dog park. There was a lot of mud and it's now gorgeous. It's two paddocks," she said.
That’s one for smaller dogs and puppies and another for the bigger, more playful canines.
The park closed for upgrades in March. Friends of the Dog Park has raised more than $130,000 for dog park construction in town. The city allocated $75,000 for the Jacobson project.
