A group funded in part by conservative industrialists Charles and David Koch is setting up shop in the Bluegrass.
The advocacy group Americans for Prosperity has named a state director.
Julia Bright Crigler will oversee the non-profit’s operation, which will be run out of two regional offices. She told cn2 the organization hopes to seize some momentum as the election thrusts Kentucky into the national spotlight.
"Clearly, Kentucky... the spotlight's on. We have the biggest U.S. Senate race. We've got a number of state House races, state Senate races coming up and we're going to be involved in pushing policy issues," Crigler said.
Crigler says state tax reform will be the group’s main priority, a focus which could show up in Americans for Prosperity ads as November nears.
Kentucky becomes the 35th state in which the group has a presence. While the Koch brothers are its primary backers, a number of other undisclosed donors also support the group.
