Parole Denied For Convicted Killer Glenn Doneghy

A Lexington man convicted of murder in the hit and run death of a police officer will remain behind bars for at least two more years.

The Kentucky State Parole Board has turned down a request for early release from Glenn Doneghy.  The Herald Leader reports the panel deliberated about 2 minutes before rendering its decision.

Brandy Durman, the widow of Officer Bryan Durman, presented a petition containing some 11,000 signatures and gave emotional testimony that Doneghy needed to remain in prison for the crime.

On April 29, 2010, Officer Durman was responding to a noise complaint when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Doneghy.

Doneghy continues to deny that he was behind the wheel that night.  He will have another parole hearing in two years.
