Census Work Nearly Complete

By Gabe Bullard

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- – Census workers have nearly finished following up with Kentuckians who did not turn in their census forms this year.

About 700,000 Kentuckians did not respond to the count, and workers have been out since May 1st knocking on their doors. Regional census office spokesperson Terry Plumb says the follow-up visits will be complete in the next few days.

"Nationally we are at 94% and the states in this region are doing better than the nation. They're virtually done with it."

Plumb says once the follow-ups are complete, the next phase of the census will begin. Workers will again be knocking on doors, verifying that addresses listed as vacant are in fact vacant and reviewing any reports that may not be accurate.
