Frankfort, KY – After a recanvass of votes cast in the House race between Republican Rep. Tim Moore of Elizabethtown and Democratic challenger Mike Weaver, Moore remains the victor by 108 votes. Les Fugate of the Secretary of State's office says a recanvass differs from a recount. "A recanvass is basically the re-totaling of the numbers. You go back and check your math. A recount is actually a legal proceeding that a judge determines exactly what that is. That could mean going back and hand counting if you have paper ballots, or some other decision that a judge could hand down."
A recanvass of votes cast in the race between Republican Senator Jack Westwood of Crescent Springs and Democratic challenger Kathy Groob show Westwood prevailing by 807 votes. No word yet if anyone will seek a recount.
