LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 2012 football season has not gone as planned for both the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee. Both will end the season with losing records and fired coaches. But pride is still on the line as the Wildcats and Vols prepare to square off on Saturday.

Former Wildcat Woods Laments Changes To College Game, Scholar Athletes

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Former Kentucky Wildcat and current Morehead State University Coach Sean Woods made some controversial comments Monday about the changing attitudes and lack of historical knowledge amongst today’s scholar athletes. 

Woods talked about coming in to Rupp Arena to compete against his Alma Mater and took certain members of the current Wildcat roster to task for what he called their “sense of entitlement”.

Duke Holds Off UK 75-68

ATLANTA  -- Seth Curry scored 23 points and No. 9 Duke held off a furious comeback by No. 3 Kentucky, beating the defending national champions 75-68 Tuesday night in the first matchup between the storied programs since 2001.

Duke (1-1) appeared to be in control, even with Mason Plumlee on the bench in foul trouble. The Blue Devils ripped off a 13-3 run, capped by Rasheed Sulaimon's 3-pointer that made it 58-44 with 9 1/2 minutes remaining.

Kentucky Women Humbled By Top-Ranked Baylor

WACO, Texas  -- Sixth-ranked Kentucky was never able to press the issue against defending national champion Baylor.

Brittney Griner and the No. 1 Lady Bears are just that good, and easily passed what was supposed to be their first real challenge with an overwhelming 85-51 victory Tuesday night.

Phillips Says He Owes It To Players To Finish Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Joker Phillips says he struggled with the idea of coaching the last two games of Kentucky’s football season after being informed he would not be back in 2013.  At a post-practice press conference Tuesday Phillips said he thought about walking away now but felt like he needed to do right by his players.

Phillips To Coach Final Two Games

LEXINGTON, Ky.  -- A day after announcing that UK football coach Joker Phillips would not return for the 2013 season, Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart says Phillips and his staff will coach the team through its final two games this year.

The Wildcats have a bye this week.  The season resumes a week from Saturday against Samford.
