Frankfort, KY – The House passed seven bills, including one originally passed by the 2008 General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Beshear. House budget chairman Rick Rand says the legality of the bill, which addresses community college appropriations, has been called into question. "It was one of the bills that hit the governor's desk after midnight. And as with all of those bills, we are repealing and re-enacting those. It reauthorizes some KCTS capital projects."

Lexington, KY – Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry says he wants to read the recommendations made by an audit report to be released by State Auditor Crit Luallen on Wednesday before making any decisions about the future of the Blue Grass Airport Board. Alan Lytle has more on the story.

Frankfort, KY – With local school districts starving for money in these tight budget times, a bill moving in the General Assembly would allow districts to use facilities construction and renovation funds for instructional needs. Among those applauding the action is Oldham County Superintendent Paul Upchurch. "Construction can be put on hold. We can deal with that for the short-term. But we can't put a young man's reading needs on hold."

Lexington, KY – Mayor Jim Newberry was one of 50 mayors who met with President Obama and several White House cabinet members late last week to discuss the American Recovery and Investment Plan.
