2017 Another Record Year For Bourbon Distilleries

Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky are reporting a record number of visitors.  A statement from the Kentucky Distillers' Association says nearly 1.2 million people visited distilleries along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour last year. That comes on the heels of a milestone in 2016, when visitors made more than 1 million stops at distilleries.

2 Micro Distilleries Added To Bourbon Trail Craft Tour

Two more distilleries have been added to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour, bringing the total number of micro distilleries included to 10.


With the number of distilleries tripling since 2007 and the bourbon industry still experiencing a boom, industry representatives plan to push for more regulatory changes in 2016 that they say could boost tourism and generate another $2 million dollars annually.

Kentucky's bourbon industry has chosen the longtime master distiller at Heaven Hill Distilleries as the first recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Collectors of bourbon memorabilia will have a chance to find out the value of their bottles, advertisements and other pieces next month at an event at The Filson Historical Society's headquarters in Louisville.

Tourism Is Booming Along The Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Tourism is booming along with production at Kentucky's bourbon distilleries.  The Kentucky Distillers' Association says the 18 participating distilleries along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour had nearly 725,000 visits from tourists last year. The record number was up 14 percent from 2013.

The woman behind the Maker's Mark name and red wax on its bottles is taking her place among Kentucky's bourbon greats.
