A check of the calendar shows there's only a few more weeks before the kids go back to school but this week's Family Fun Guide guest Gil Lawson of Kentucky State Parks says there's plenty of time to explore several sites right here in Central Kentucky.

It's a holiday week on the Family Fun Guide and WUKY's Alan Lytle talks with Laura Farnsworth of the Downtown Lexington Partnership which is presenting Lexington's Fourth of July Festival.  The celebration gets under way this Tuesday with the Great American Pie Contest and Ice Cream Social in the Fifth Third Pavilion.

This week on the Family Fun Guide WUKY's Alan Lytle talks with Michelle Franzetti, marketing director with Lexington Parks and Recreation.  Among the new programs offered this summer include Fairway Flicks, a series of family movie screenings at city-owned golf courses.
