LEXINGTON, Ky. - A planned emergency preparedness drill took on a heightened significance for the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department Wednesday after heavy thunderstorms and strong winds rolled across the state.
It was a worst-case scenario at the VA Medical Center on Leestown Road in Lexington Thursday. An EF-5 tornado destroyed the hospital, leaving wounded patients crying for help.
