See performances from Rock & Roots artists - live from the legendary studios where Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis launched a little thing called rock 'n' roll.

The WUKY Rock & Roots DJs

Stacy Yelton
Rock & Roots Hostess, Weekdays 9-11

For almost 30 years, Stacy has been playing songs that make people dance, laugh, or call the station sobbing and asking, "Do you have a tissue?" Favorite Beatle: John.  Guilty pleasure: Madonna. E-mail Stacy at
slyelt1@uky.edu

Josh James
Rock & Roots Host, Weekdays 11-1
Josh believes good music will save the world. A gentleman at heart, his tattoo nonetheless scares small children and mothers. Favorite Beatle: Paul. Guilty pleasure: Lady Gaga. E-mail Josh at josh.james@uky.edu

Mike Graves
Rock & Roots Host, Weekdays 1-4
"Keep your pencils sharpened!"  You'll need them to write down the great info Mike gives listeners. Mike's yet another of WUKY's jocks to have logged over 25 years on the air. Favorite Beatle: All! Guilty pleasure: Mike has no guilt! E-mail Mike at mgrav1@uky.edu

 John Lee
Rock & Roots Host, Sun-Thu 11pm- 1am
John has plenty to do at WUKY, but he loves to be on the air. He keeps your late nights rockin', and does weekday cameos, too. Favorite Beatle: John. Guilty pleasure: Avril Lavigne. E-mail John at lumagui@uky.edu
   Jonese Franklin
Rock & Roots Hostess, Saturdays noon-3
Jonese got her start in radio when she was just 17 years old. Besides her love of rock n' roll, she also enjoys puppies, kitties, and rainbows. Favorite Beatle: John - Duh! Guilty pleasure: Kelly Clarkson. Email Jonese at jonesefranklin@gmail.com
   Tony Doolin
Rock & Roots Sat. 3-4, Americana Carnival 4-5
Tony is a radio veteran with over 18 years of experience. When he's not on the air, Tony is an accomplished illustrator and spends his free time teaching his three daughters the lyrics to Johnny Cash songs. Favorite Beatle: John. Guilty Pleasure: Buckcherry. E-mail Tony at tony.doolin@uky.edu
   Joe Conkwright
Rock & Roots Swing Shift Guy
You know him from Joe's Blues, but Joe rocks out from time to time on Rock & Roots, too. Favorite Beatle: John. Guilty pleasure: The Ray Conniff Singers. E-mail Joe at:  mrfriendly2k@hotmail.com

Live and Local

WUKY's disc jockeys are live. That is, we are in the studio, playing CDs (sometimes very loudly!), talking to you, and generally having a great time. At many radio stations, the music is on a hard drive, and the "canned" disc jockey lives several states away. Because we live where we work, we know our local musicians, and the ones who got their start here. We support them by playing their music, and we let you know where you can see them play live. Below is a small sampling of the local artists you hear on Rock & Roots. You can click on most to visit their websites.
