A UK Football Player Is Charged With Assault

A UK player was arrested over the weekend. Lexington Police say sophomore wide receiver Zy’ Aire Hughes, was charged early Sunday morning with 4th degree assault. Officers say a woman at the scene had minor injuries.

Coach Mark Stoops released a statement that says in part "We're aware of the situation. We're in the process of gathering information. Proper behavior is an expectation of our program and we will address this as the facts are determined." Assault is considered a violation of the 2018-2019 Student-Athlete Handbook. At this time the incident remains under investigation by the University as well as police.  

Hughes was a start player at McCracken County High School before playing for UK.
