Paul, Barr, McConnell Still To Address RNC Despite Weather Cancellation
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The schedule shuffling at this year’s Republican National Convention won’t cost any Kentucky politicians their speaking slots.
With the first day’s events canceled due to Tropical Storm (soon to be Hurricane) Isaac, at least two Kentucky speakers were in danger of being knocked off the schedule.
But Congressional candidate Andy Barr and U.S. Senator Rand Paul will still address the convention. Barr will speak by 3 pm Tuesday, and Paul will end up with a higher-profile slot than he was originally given. Paul will speak directly after his Kentucky counterpart, Mitch McConnell on Wednesday night.
The new time-slots give all three of Kentucky’s speakers a better shot at media coverage, since the big three networks were planning to skip wall-to-wall first-day coverage.
