Hiker Still Missing In Red River Gorge

Provided by the Reynolds Family

The search for a hiker who went missing Tuesday night in the Red River Gorge had to be suspended Wednesday night and resumes this morning.

Twenty-nine-year-old Les Reynolds of Florence was camping when he got lost. He called his mother around 9:30 pm Tuesday to say he wasn't sure where he was and he needed his medication. Reynolds was supposed to meet his cousin at a trail head in about an hour but he never showed up.

Search and Rescue teams from four counties are looking for Reynolds who has a brain injury from a car accident and suffers from schizophrenia. He has been without his medication for more than 24-hours. Officials found Reynolds' campsite but haven't seen any other signs of him. His family says he is an avid camper and hiker but worry he may be confused and could actually be hiding from rescuers because of his illness.

If you are planning on hiking or camping in the Red River Gorge, you are asked to avoid the Bison Way Trail until Reynolds is found.
