Gunshots Were Heard During Vigil For Teen Killed By Gunfire

WKYT

Lexington Police had their hands full last night, responding to numerous reports of gunfire within the span of an hour.Shots rang out last night during a vigil for a teenager who was shot and killed in January. Family and friends were gathered at Charles Young Park to remember 17-year-old Alisa Lucy Reed, who was hit by gunfire during a party at an apartment on Palumbo Drive.

Police say drugs were at the scene and they have a possible suspect, but witnesses who were at the party won’t cooperate with investigators. During last night’s vigil, police were called to Race Street, which is a few blocks away from the park.  Officers say shots were fired during some sort of rolling disorder. It’s unclear if those were the same shots heard by the people gathered at the vigil. Several cars and homes were damaged and shell casings were found at the scene. Investigators have vague descriptions of three possible teenagers who were seen in the area.

Then about a half hour later, Lexington police got another report of gunfire, this time in the Bryan Station area. Two people were arguing when one person pulled out a gun and fired. A bystander was hit and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One person is being questioned in that incident.
