Churchill Downs VP John Asher Dies

One of the most visible faces of Churchill Downs has died. Wave TV 3 on Louisville has reported that 62-year old John Asher died this morning of an apparent heart attack while on vacation with his family in Orlando.

Asher was a former newsman with WAVG and WHAS and the vice president of racing communications at Churchill Downs. He was best known at the track for calling the post position draws for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.
